The Ottawa International Animation Festival’s Television Animation Conference (TAC) is Canada’s only animation business forum targeting makers and buyers of animation. In addition to enhancing business opportunities for animation producers and bridging the gap between animation art and commerce, this conference holds specialized workshops like Pitch THIS! Two brilliant ideas were selected for a chance to a panel of broadcast leaders from Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, TELETOON and PBS.
This year’s Pitch THIS! winner, Buddy Bolton (in association with FatKat Animation Studios) presented UFS (Unidentified Flying Sombrero), a tale of a boy named Alsalmo that discovers a UFO that happens to be the exact shape of a sombrero. Barry A. Sanders also won the competition with his pitch The Pirates of Bus Route 317, a gang of pirates buccaneering through a landlocked town with an old city bus.
Despite the large audience, technical difficulties, and hex that Nagymama put on both of them, both of these boys NAILED the pitches! Great job, guys!
